Sources
There are 3 sources of metadata for data elements
• Database metadata is the primary source and is always used. It may be overridden by data dictionary entries.
• External data dictionaries may be imported into the webDP dictionary. There are import scripts for popular dictionary formats.
• The webDP dictionary may be edited manually.
webDP
webDP builds data structures dynamically by reading the database metadata and combining it with any dictionary entries that it finds in the dictionary.
External
External applications may have access to the metadata and dictionary (as well as rules) via the webDP API.
